1 Year Of Crazy
I started this blog one year ago. Okay, I’m off by a day, but with that whole leap year thing it’s still sort of the same thing. You get the idea.
I started this up with the idea that I could share some of my experiences in trying to plan a wedding in hopes that it may help someone else out. The basics of wedding planning are the same regardless of what kind of wedding you’re going for, so why should we all reinvent the wheel? It turned out to be a crazy year, with not just the normal wedding planning chaos, but the added stress of planning it from a distance, the family drama, the various snafus, and the job situation looming over the entire back half of the process. I’m really happy with how the wedding turned out, but let’s just say you will not catch me even entertaining the idea of helping anyone else plan theirs. I’ve told Geoff we can’t divorce because I refuse to plan another wedding (he agrees).
This not only turned out to be a great outlet for me, but I actually feel as though I’ve been able to help a few people along the way. I’ve met some great people, and have really enjoyed having this concrete online presence.
I think that this milestone, coupled with not having much more to say on the topic of weddings, is a great time to actually push the format transition that I mentioned wanting to do a while back. I’ve already started retagging the old posts so that they all have a category named after the current blog so it will still be easy to find them, but starting September the blog name will be changing along with the URL (assuming I can figure out how to make that work without destroying everything).
All of the wedding planning items will still be here, and I’ll do my best to include shortcuts to the relevant items, but the blog will officially be moving away from wedding stuff. I’m going to wrap up the remaining wedding posts I have this month, and after that it will stick to what you’ve seen here recently: a random collection of thoughts on growing into adulthood with smatterings of thoughts on general life that I just can’t keep to myself.
Here’s a sampling of what brilliant topics you can expect in the near(ish) future!
- Big kid jobs
- Apartment/house hunting
- Student loans that haunt your nightmares, and sometimes your daymares
- Living with your in-laws
- The election
- A DIY project gone wrong (you know it’s going to happen, don’t fight it)
- The inevitable “one of us did something stupid and now we’re sitting in the ER”
